Peter and John

I once heard Joseph Prince mention the following interesting observation: Peter was the disciple quoted as gushing on and on about his love for Jesus, but ended up denying him.

There is also one disciple mentioned in the New Testament as "the disciple that Jesus loved", which is known to be John. Fascinating that the only book in the New Testament that mentions this is the book of John! So you have a contrast of one disciple speaking about his love for Jesus, and one disciple bragging about how much Jesus loves him! And of course John gets to write the book of "Revelation" which is "the revelation of Jesus Christ".

I love Jesus too, but find myself drifting more and more towards wanting to share, sing, and brag about His love for me rather than the other way around. It seems to give Him glory, rather than drawing worship to myself for what an amazing lover of Jesus I am.

What is your balance of worship songs when it comes to declaring your love for Jesus vs. His love for you? Nothing wrong with either - just curious
